The Holiday Collection: Peppermint & Cedar

As I thought about what I wanted to present to all of you this Holiday season, I thought very deeply about the feeling I wanted to share with you through my floral pieces. Poppy Leigh Floral is Back in Texas

We’ve all heard the saying,”You can take the girl out of Texas, but you can’t take Texas out of the girl.” Well I tried to leave and I can tell you from experience that it is much harder to leave Texas than the old saying alludes. While the beauty we lived in being Maine residents is unlike anything I have ever experienced, we missed our people. If we could have moved all of you out there with us to have the best of both worlds, we would have in a heartbeat! Because if there is one thing we learned from our Northern expedition, it is that people make a home, not the place.

From Seed To Centerpiece

Being a floral designer is what led to me chasing this dream of having my own cutting garden which eventually turned into our flower farm. So being able to design on a whim, without having to visit a flower market or get in touch with a wholesaler is an absolute dream come true. Most of all, I love knowing where my flowers are coming from, how fresh they are, and knowing the time, effort and care that went into them. It makes every design I create that much more meaningful and magical. Lately I have been making more time for myself to design using only the blooms I’ve grown. To really take the time to appreciate the beauty that is coming off of the farm and showcasing it to the best of my ability. And also to show people that local and seasonal flowers can be beautiful for every occasion. Here is what I’ve been up to.

Flower Meditation

Whatever it is you find peace and joy doing, take the time to notice the small moments that make up the whole. Pay attention to your breathing and how your body is moving. How getting lost in those small moments can wash the most calming waves over you and ease you into a feeling of relaxation, and at the same time, releasing pent up energy and the powerful feeling of being alive. Life is happening all the time, everyday all around us. If we don’t stop to take these small moments of appreciation, it could be gone before we ever notice it. Be sitll, breathe and listen.

Farm Update 4/26

The highlight of our spring season and our biggest success hands down has been our ranunculus. They have brought such abundant beauty to our field and happiness in your home as well as our own. They are definitely a favorite here at Poppy Leigh for obvious reasons. They are a flower that definitely ages like a fine wine. Their delicate petals open and get fluffier everyday and start to look as though they could simply flutter away with the slightest breeze. If there was ever a flower capable of transforming into an elegant ballerina, I believe the ranunculus would be it.
